Just think of everything you can have for over $80,000.
A week ago, Volkswagen released an exclusive Golf R 333 Limited Edition with a massive price tag and just 333 units available globally (but not in America). Apparently, it turned out to be a popular release as VW boasted on Twitter that it sold out within eight minutes. That's surprising given the price, which is equivalent to $81,400.
The pumped-up version of the Golf R features a turbocharged engine with 333 metric horsepower (328 bhp) and 309 lb-ft of torque, derived from VW's 2.0 TSI four-cylinder petrol engine. Its impressive specifications include a 0-62 mph time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 168 mph, equalling the specifications of the European Golf R 20 Years edition.
?? That was superfast! Within only 8 minutes, all 333 units of the #VWGolf R 333 are already sold out!

Stefan Voswinkel, VW's head of product communications, also announced the rapid sell-out on LinkedIn, acknowledging the quick demand for the Golf R 333 despite the stratospheric price tag. Not only is it the most expensive Golf, but it's one of the most expensive VW products globally, bested only by the all-new Touareg in its upper configurations.
Although skeptics may argue that the same amount of money could buy a Porsche 718 Cayman S or an Audi RS3 for less, the number “333” evidently holds its own appeal among European buyers.

Based on Europe's Golf R Performance model, the Golf R 333 comes equipped with the R Performance pack, which includes a torque-vectoring rear differential, drift and special driving modes, a higher top speed, and a larger rear spoiler. These features, excluding the Akrapovic exhaust and semi-slick tires, are optional in Europe at extra cost.
With all 333 units sold out shortly after orders opened on June 2, owners will now face a slight waiting period as production only gets underway in September, with deliveries occurring in October. If you were hoping to get your hands on one in the US, however, VW's American representatives already confirmed to CarBuzz that the 333 will not come stateside. It's also all but guaranteed the Golf R 333 would not be eligible for a US Show or Display license.
