While Maruti Suzuki usually occupies all three podium places in the top 5 cars list, Tata Motors has now occupied one of those podium steps.
That being said, it is not easy for any manufacturer to challenge Maruti Suzuki in terms of outright sales figures as 4 of the top 5 cars sold in India belong to Maruti Suzuki.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno (20,945 units)
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is not only the best-selling car in November 2022, but it is also the only model in the last month to cross the 20,000-unit mark as the company managed to sell 20,945 units of Baleno hatchback in India.
This stunning sale has resulted in YoY growth of more than 110 per cent, whereas MoM sales figures improved by little more than 22 per cent as the Indo-Japanese car manufacturer managed to sell just 17,149 units in the month of October 2022.

Tata Nexon (15,871 units)
Tata Motors rattled the Indian automotive industry as the Nexon SUV becomes the second best-selling car in India during the last month as Tata Motors managed to sell 15,871 units of Nexon SUVs in the country despite facing strong competition from its own segment.
Furthermore, Tata Nexon SUV YoY sales improved by more than 61 per cent as the company managed to sell just 9,831 units of the SUV in the last year around the same timeframe. That being said, MoM sales also improved by more than 15 per cent.
Maruti Suzuki Alto (15,663 units)
Maruti Suzuki Alto has always been a consistent seller for the Indo-Japanese automaker in India and the hatchback lost the second step of the podium to Tata Nexon SUV by a thin margin as the company managed to sell 15,663 units of the hatchback in November 2022.
Moreover, YoY sales for the entry-level hatchback improved by 13.4 per cent as the company managed to increase sales by 1,851 units compared to November 2021. On the other hand, MoM sales figures for the Alto hatchback dipped by more than 26 per cent as the company managed to sell more than 21,000 units of the Alto hatchback in October 2022.
Maruti Suzuki Swift (15,153 units)
Maruti Suzuki Swift witnessed decent sales figures as the company managed to sell 15,153 units of the Swift hatchback in the month of November 2022, resulting in a YoY sales increase of more than 4 per cent as the company managed to sell 585 units less in the previous year.
In terms of MoM sales figures, the Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback sales dipped by more than 12 per cent as the Indo-Japanese car manufacturer managed to sell 2,078 units less than what it had previously managed to sell in the month of October 2022.
Maruti Suzuki WagonR (14,720 units)
Like the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Alto, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR is a very consistent performer for the Indo-Japanese automaker in India. In November 2022, Maruti Suzuki managed to sell 14,720 units of the WagonR hatchback across the country, further asserting its success.
However, despite doing more than decent sales figures, YoY sales figures for the Maruti Suzuki WagonR dipped by more than 12.6 per cent as the company had previously managed to sell 2,133 units more in the month of November 2021. Moreover, MoM sales figures for the tall-boy hatchback also dipped by almost 18 per cent.
Thoughts About The Top 5 Best-Selling Cars
Maruti Suzuki is the largest passenger car manufacturer in India with a very dominant market share. As such, it is not easy to overtake Maruti Suzuki cars in terms of sales figures. However, Tata Motors taking the second spot in the top 5 list with the Nexon SUV is a remarkable achievement in itself.
