Wayne Taylor Racing Andretti Autosport has announced that Louis Deletraz and Jordan Taylor will be fielded in a second Acura ARX-06 GTP entry in the 2024 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Taylor, who joins from Corvette Racing, previously ran with the WTR squad from 2013-2019 and next year will mark his return to prototype racing for the first time in five years.
“I’m super excited to be coming back to WTR, now partnered with Andretti Autosport, to go back and fight for overall wins with Acura alongside Louis,” Taylor said.
“I think our driving styles will complement each other very well to bring success next year.”
During his prototype hiatus, Taylor has been racing in the GTD Pro class, winning two GTLM championships in 2020 and ’21.
In his previous stint with WTRAndretti, Taylor won two prototype championships (2013, ’17) and scored two wins in the 24 Hours of Daytona (2017, ’19).
Deletraz makes the jump from being a WTRAndretti co-driver in the #10 Acura for 2023 IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup events, to a full-time seat next year alongside Taylor and he is delighted with the promotion.
“I am extremely happy to continue with WTRAndretti in a full IMSA GTP season role,” he said.
“I have really enjoyed working with the team, Acura & HPD this year and the 2024 two-car program makes it even more exciting.”
Deletraz is a back-to-back ELMS champion (2021, ’22) and boasts a catalogue of impressive accolades in endurance racing.
A two-time IMSA LMP2 winner, the Swiss driver also has a class podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and has won in the World Endurance Championship at Spa-Francorchamps.
Taylor and Deletraz join Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuqurque in the WTRAndretti driver lineup, with the latter pairing currently leading the 2023 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the #10 Acura and Team Principal Wayne Taylor has said both pairings will fight on equal terms next year.
“Now, with Ricky and Filipe in one car and Louis and Jordan in the other, it will be a great battle for the fans on who will take first and second’” he said.
“Not sure Shelley and I will enjoy it as much as the fans, but both cars will share the number one status and be prepared identically.
“There will be no team orders on who comes first and who second.”
Chairman and CEO of Andretti Autosport Michael Andretti also weighed in on the driver announcement.
“I think that across our two cars, our driver lineup is going to be the strongest in the paddock,” he boasted.
“This is another great step as we continue to build a closer collaboration with Wayne and build WTRAndretti to be even stronger.”
WTRAndretti will be back in GTP action at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the IMSA Battle of the Bricks on 15-17 September.
