Can you think of a better way to remind a friend about their driving mistakes?
Chris Warren on FacebookWrecking a sports car is an experience every driver wants to avoid. That said, talent sometimes runs out and mistakes happen in the real world. If that situation does arise one day, you’re gonna want a friend like this particular Facebook user, who masterfully reconstructed his buddy’s Subaru BRZ crash scene with a scale model.
From photos published online, it appears that the full-size BRZ in question met its demise after an unplanned meeting with a parking bollard in an empty lot. While the car itself doesn’t look entirely knackered from the impact, the BRZ certainly required a long stay at the body shop following the likely drift-related incident. Seeking to remind their friend of this horrible loss just in time for the holidays, model builder Chris Warren got to work recreating the incident out of a Japanese scale model.
Like the real accident, the model project began with a Blue Pearl BRZ. From there, everything was done to mirror the damage done to the genuine car. The hood has been bent and rolled back to mimic a hard impact, while the lower valance was split and cracked into shape using heat. The detailing even continues under the hood where the intake, radiator, and a ton of engine piping are all displaced like in a real accident. A blown airbag was even added to the interior for that added bit of realism.

With the bodywork looking properly smashed, Warren also attempted to mirror the paint damage found on the real BRZ. The artist even went as far as to add some paint transfer onto the model parking bollard, which comes installed in a carpet-based parking lot. You likely noticed the large bird mounted atop the pole, included as a nod to the large bird Warren’s friend claims was present at the time of the wreck. While the end result might look a bit more intense than what the genuine photos show, it’s a great result for an admitted first attempt.

Whether or not their friend appreciated this reminder, this model builder has found an interesting way for us all to commemorate the cars we’ve lost and the ways we lost them. These model builds could even serve as a cautionary notice the next time you spot an elusive empty parking lot.
