The standard ADAS safety features include the Electronic Braking System (EBS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Retarder. These features are complemented by the addition of the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and the new Advanced Emergency Braking (AEB) system. The AEB is a system that uses camera and radar to prevent a collision with the vehicle in front through autonomous braking. The advanced AEB system is a first to be used in a coach in Malaysia, and will elevate the safety of the SuperNice coach / express bus. Additionally, the complimentary FMS Control 10, fitted in these coaches will help SuperNice reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions through the use of data analysis.
“I am glad SuperNice decided to adopt a higher safety standard with the ADAS. I am also confident that their operations will enjoy the best profitability through total solutions from Scania,” commented Heba.
“The Scania with ADAS technology is one of the many aspects the transport industry needs to move forward to reduce the number of road accidents in Malaysia. I believe SuperNice’s stance will encourage other express bus operators to follow suit,” said Professor Dr Wong Shaw Voon, Chairman of the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) who attended the handover ceremony along with Robert Lejon, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Sweden.
The Scania coaches ordered by SuperNice also include the Repair & Maintenance (R&M) contract. This contract helps to ensure SuperNice of maximum uptime for its coaches. Furthermore, the ADAS system will be maintained by Scania to ensure continuous operation to safeguard the safety of SuperNice passengers.
The SuperNice coaches are also financed by Scania Credit Malaysia via a Scania Hire Purchase agreement to provide SuperNice with predictable costs over the entire lifecycle of the coaches, and allows the company to plan its operations and finances.
