The Israeli battery developer StoreDot has published a video of a fast-charging process of its current battery cell technology. This is said to be the version that is to go into series production in 2024.
After StoreDot presented its strategic technology roadmap “100inX” in March and set the goal of delivering battery cells that can recharge energy for 100 miles (160 kilometres) of range in just two minutes within the next ten years, StoreDot now demonstrates the charging of a “100in5” battery cell in a video. This is said to be able to recharge power for 100 miles in five minutes.
The demonstration shows a 300 x 100 mm pouch cell manufactured by partner EVE Energy in China – as will be the case in series production from 2024. In the test, the cell was charged from 0 to 86 percent within ten minutes. At no time did the battery temperature exceed 33 degrees Celsius. The test was conducted in front of an audience at EcoMotion Week 2022 in Israel and streamed live.
The 24 Ah cell demonstrated was charged to 20 Ah. According to the display, the voltage was around 4 volts; according to the presenter, the voltage range is 3 to 4.4 volts. Only at a charge level of 69 percent (after 7:33 minutes) was the current voltage of 135 amps cut off.

“Our intensive development program has already delivered batteries capable of exceeding 1200 consecutive extreme fast cycles and we aim to complete the scaling up of more than 1000 cycles in our EV-size cells by the end of this year,” says Yaron Fein, Vice President for Research & Development. “We remain poised to achieve 100in5 by 2024, whilst remaining firmly on track to deliver our ultimate goal of 100in2 by 2032.”
StoreDot CEO Doron Myersdorf sees the live demonstration as proof of the confidence StoreDot has in its technology. “Away from the stage, our transformative technology continues to undergo testing by leading automotive manufacturers in grueling conditions, ensuring no stone is left unturned in the strategic pursuit of delivering excellence to our customers and consigning EV range anxiety to the history books,” Myersdorf said.
