It wasn’t long ago that 1,000 hp was a pipe dream. In a car, at least. Sure for a ship or a plane it was no big deal, but on the road? Never. Then Bugatti blasted through that figure with the Veyron. And now you can even get an SUV with 1,000 hp. That’s right, the 2020 Rezvani Tank, which isn’t really a tank, can break the four-figure hp barrier.
Rezvani offers up the tank, which is one of the most aggressive off-roaders we’ve ever seen, with a wide range of drivelines. Want to save some cash? You can get it with a 285 hp 3.6L V6. There’s a 285 hp 3.0L V6 diesel as well.
Step up to the Tank X, and you get more. The X is gonna give it to ya. That’s the 6.2L supercharged V8 from the Dodge Demon. But it’s not stock. Here, it’s tuned to make 1,000 hp.
You’ll notice a lot more than just those engines as being from an FCA product. Like the steering wheel, the gauges, the dashboard, and even the door panels. We can’t help but wonder if there’s not a Jeep JL Wrangler under there.
Not that you’d ever guess from the bodywork. For 2020, the Tank gets some new styling. That includes new lights at the back, and some other changes. But it’s got a host of customizable interior options. like Nappa leather. Or a full Alcantara interior in some very bright colours. And with multiple seat options on the list.
The Tank X, that’s the more powerful one, comes with a 4.0-inch lift and Fox shocks as standard. But buyers can option those up to either remote reservoir shocks or a 6.0-inch lift and Fox 3.0 Extreme dampers.
With the 1,000 hp V8, the auxiliary fuel tank option will probably be a popular one. It doubles capacity from 76L to 151, letting you use those ponies longer between fillups.
The Tank X comes with thermal optics night vision, and electromagnetic pulse protection. The latter in case you’re worried about a nuclear blast.
The Tank Military is no military tank, but it does come with a bulletproof body and glass. Plus some gadgets that would make James Bond jealous but might not please your local vehicle enforcement staff. Like a smokescreen. And “Ram Bumpers”. Oh, and electrified door handles. The intercom, magnetic deadbolts, and the gas masks on-board might come in handy though.
With the Tank starting from US $155,000, and the Tank X at $349,000, you probably won’t see one at your local off-road course anytime soon.
