Ford has had to recall 48,924 units of its Mustang Mach-E electric model, which is about half of the model’s total production. The manufacturer has also imposed a sales stop on potentially affected vehicles.
The problem lies with fast charging and repeated heavy acceleration, which can cause the main contactors of the high-voltage battery to overheat, which would result in a loss of drive power. According to Ford, the problem is to be solved with a software update.
