Quantron and the Indian company ETO Motors are planning a cooperation for the Indian and European markets. Through this cooperation, the German electric commercial vehicle manufacturer wants to gain access to the Indian market with its products, among other things.
The two companies from Germany and India have set out their intention to cooperate in an agreement at the IAA Transportation 2022 in Hanover – and are aiming for binding agreements before the end of the year. The cooperation is to comprise various elements. Firstly, under the partnership, ETO Motors is to support Quantron in the development and registration of its trucks, vans and buses in India and other countries on the Indian subcontinent, and will also become the sole sales partner for all Quantron vehicles and technologies in the territory.
In return, Quantron will support the Indian company in bringing its three-wheeled vehicles to the European market. Design and development work is still to be done for this purpose, according to Quantron’s statement.
In addition, the Indo-German cooperation also aims to introduce H2 vehicles and H2 infrastructure and develop battery and energy solutions in both countries. Separately, Quantron also mentions mutual support in the use of connectivity technology platforms (fleet, route, charging management, etc.) and the commercialisation of retrofit solutions: “The key task is for ETO and QUANTRON is to develop BEV and possibly FCEV conversion kits for applications targeting a global market –trucks, buses or even trains (for FCEV), depending on cost and feasibility,” the accompanying release states.
ETO Motors Private Limited is based in Hyderabad, India, and describes itself as a specialist in eMobility solutions and services for the first and last mile and for commuters in urban areas. The company manufactures charging stations (“ETO Thunderbox”) and – as mentioned above – three-wheeled heavy-duty vans. Its other portfolio includes, among other things, the mobility solution ETO Fleet.
Quantron, for its part, just debuted the QHM FCEV Heavy Truck at IAA Transportation, created together with Ballard Power Systems, a tractor-trailer for heavy long-haul transport with a range of up to 1,500 kilometres. Quantron was founded in summer 2019 by the Gersthofen-based Iveco contract partner and commercial vehicle specialist Haller and has since developed from a sales and conversion specialist into a full-range provider.
