Roberts drove for Lou Moore in 1938 and won the 500 with an average speed of 117.200 mph.

RacingOneGetty Images Mauri Rose – 1941, 1947, 1948

Mauri Rose won the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway three times. His first win came in 1941 when his own car suffered mechanical failure and he took over the driving chores from Floyd Davis and went on to post the victory. He also won back-to-back Indy 500s in 1947 and 1948.

RacingOneGetty Images George Robson – 1946

World War II stopped the race from ’42 to ’45. Robson won Indy for Thorne Engineering in 1946 behind the wheel of the Thorne Engineering Special with a speed of 114.820 mph. He was tragically killed the same year in an accident during at race at Lakewood Speedway in Atlanta, Georgia.
