As we approach the end of a blockbuster year for car launches as the world emerges from the pandemic, it would appear 2023 has even more in store!
Let’s have a look at some of the new vehicles that we can expect to see on our local roads during the course of 2023.
Audi Q8 e-tron
With several e-tron Audi EVs available in South Africa, the introduction of the sizeable Q8 version in both regular and Sportback guise should be a great addition to the line-up when it arrives towards the end of 2023.
BAIC B80
BAIC’s Mercedes-Benz G-Class look alike, the B80, which was unveiled at the 2022 South African Festival of Motoring, will be released early in 2023.
BMW M2
BMW’s “baby M”, the M2 will be launched to the local market in the second quarter of 2022.
Chery Omoda 5
First teased at the year’s South African Festival of Motoring, the Chery Omoda 5 has been confirmed for a local introduction in 2023.
Ferrari Purosangue
Ferrari’s first ever SUV, the Purosangue, is likely to reach South Africa before the end of 2023.
Ford Ranger Raptor
Set to be South Africa’s most powerful production bakkie when it launches early in 2023, the new Ranger Raptor is on of the most high;y anticpated cars of 2023.
Haval Jolion
Haval looks as if it will introduce a more powerful version of its Jolion crossover. Badged the Jolion S, the new model will receive a power and torque bump in addition to a multilink rear suspension set-up.
Honda Civic Type R
The rumour mill is abuzz with the news that the latest Type R may reach local shores in the first quarter of 2023.
Hyundai Grand i10
Current model displayed
Hyundai are set to introduce an updated version of the Grand i10, which is said to include a sadan version towards the end of 2023.
Jaguar F-Type 75
Like its Defender stablemate, the Jaguar sportscar is also celebrating 75 years, and this special edition also coincides with the final update for the F-Type before production ends for good.
Kia Seltos update
The popular Seltos has received a makeover both inside and out, and Kia expects to launch it in the second half of 2023.
Lamborghini Urus Performante
Those looking for a more extreme version of the Lamborghini Urus rejoice as the Performante version of the super SUV will be here early in 2023.
Land Rover Defender 75
To celebrate 75 years of the Land Rover Defender, the aptly named Defender 75 will be a must-have for enthusiasts, and it is arriving locally in 2023.
Lexus RX
The new Lexus RX is finally set to make its local introduction early in 2023, with a host of new powertrain set to debut in the newcomer.
Lotus Emira
As the last hurrah for the naturally aspirated Lotus sportscar with a manual gearbox, the Emira is a petrolhead’s dream, and its local introduction is imminent!
Mahindra Scorpio N
After the successful launch of its XUV700 late in 2022, Mahindra looks to release the Scorpio N early in 2023.
Maserati Gracale
We recently had a chance to review the all-new Gracale, Maserati’s compact crossover contended which will be sold in South Africa early in 2023.
McLaren Artura
The Artura has been spotted cruising on local roads, meaning a local introduction is imminent. This is the first McLaren to be built on the brand’s new architecture and also features a new turbocharged V6 with electrical assistance.
Mercedes-AMG C 63 E Performance
The big news concerning the new C63 is the fact that its V8 engine is gone, and in its place we find a turbocharged four-cylinder paired with an electric motor, making this the fastest C63 ever. It is expcted to be released to the local market early in 2023.
Mitsubishi ASX
The Renault Captur-based Mitsubishi ASX should be introduced locally in 2023, finally relieving the outgoing model after over a decade in the local market.
Nissan Qashqai e-Power
Expect and electrified version of Nissan’s Qashqai to be launched here early in 2023
Porsche 911 Dakar
The 911 Dakar will be available in South Africa at just over R4.0-million when it is launched in the second quarter of 2023!
Renault Arkana
Renault is entering the coupe crossover segment with the Arkana, complete with turbocharged hybrid powertrains, and should be availble halfway through 2023.
Subaru Crosstrek
The Crosstrek is the new identity for the popular Subaru XV, and it should arrive on local shores mid-way through 2023.
Suzuki Grand Vitara
Expect Suzuki’s new flagship, the Grand Vitara, to arrive early in 2023, offering space and efficiency at a reasonable price.
Toyota GR Corolla
While it has yet to be officially confirmed, we have a suspicion that Toyota’s muscular GR Corolla will be arriving in local shores in 2023.
Volkswagen Amarok
We have driven the all-new Volkswagen Amarok, and if our first impressions are correct, its introduction into the market early in 2023 should shake things up in the double cab segment.
Volvo C40 Recharge
What is essentially a coupe-esque version of the XC40 Recharge, the C40’s introduction should appeal to those looking for a sportier-looking ell-electric Volvo Crossover.
