Czech carmaker Skoda has revealed details about the powertrains that will be offered in the 2024 Kodiaq. The Czech firm also released a few more details about the upcoming 2024 Skoda Kodiaq ahead of its debut later this year.
The new-gen Skoda Kodiaq will be offered with power outputs ranging from 147.5bhp to 201bhp. The new Kodiaq will sport one hybrid, two petrol and two diesel powertrains.
The second-generation Skoda Kodiaq’s hybrid powertrain is of the plug-in variety and features a 1.5-litre turbocharged TSI petrol engine aided by an electric motor paired with a lithium-ion battery pack.
The petrol engine produces 147.5bhp, with the electric motor pushing the total system output to 201bhp. The hybrid powertrain is connected to a 6-speed DSG automatic gearbox that sends power to the front wheels.
The lithium-ion battery pack has a capacity of 25.7kWh and provides an all-electric range of 100 kilometres. The battery pack supports 11kW AC charging and 50kW DC fast charging.
The petrol powerplants include the same 147.5bhp turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine that is found on the hybrid version of the SUV, which will be known as the Kodiaq iV.
However, unlike the iV, this version of the Kodiaq will sport mild-hybrid and cylinder deactivation tech. The mild-hybrid Kodiaq will also feature a front-wheel-drive setup.
The other petrol option is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot that pushes out 201bhp, which is sent to all four wheels by a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox that will feature on all pure ICE versions of the second-gen Kodiaq.
The two diesel powertrain options use the same 2.0-litre turbo four-pot engine. The engine is offered in two states of tune – 147.5bhp and 190.4bhp. The lower-spec version of the engine sends power to the front wheels, while the higher-spec diesel powers an all-wheel-drive version of the SUV.
Skoda also revealed that the 2nd-gen Kodiaq has grown in size compared to the current version of the SUV. The new Gen2 Kodiaq measures 4,758mm long, 1,864mm wide and 1,657mm tall and sports a 2,791mm long wheelbase.
The 2024 Kodiaq will be 61mm longer than its predecessor. In its seven-seater guise, the new Kodiaq will offer passengers in the third row 15mm more headroom than before.
Bootspace will continue to be generous in the new Kodiaq. The 2nd-gen SUV will offer a maximum of 910 litres of storage space in the rear in its 5-seater guise. Storage space in the 7-seater version will range from 340 to 845 litres.
Thoughts About The 2024 Skoda Kodiaq
The 2024 Skoda Kodiaq will see the SUV go down the hybrid route while continuing to offer its owners more than enough space to stretch around inside when it arrives in India next year.
