On Saturday 3 December, Creative Rides in Bryanston, Johannesburg will auction off some of the most iconic collector cars in the country.
Headlining the auction is the legendary BMW E30 325iS EVO2, more affectionately known locally as the Gusheshe, of which only 500 units were produced exclusively for the South African market.
This BMW was built to compete in the Group N racing series against the likes of Nissan’s STI Sentra and Opel’s Super Boss, and it was given a powerful 2.7-litre engine to do so, resulting in a 0-100km/h sprint of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 225km/h.
When new, this particular 1991 model had an asking price of R120,000, though now it’s expected to fetch far more than its original window sticker.
According to Creative Rides CEO Kevin Derrick, collectors in our borders are highly passionate about local classics, followed by American muscle, and then European models with flamboyant designs, speed, and power.

What’s on offer
Apart from the Gusheshe, a number of rare autos will roll across the auction blocks on 3 December.
Standout lots in the American muscle category include an original 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Fastback, arguably one of the most legendary muscle cars in history.
In its time, the street-legal Boss V8 boasted 216kW, a top speed of 220km/h, and a 0-60mph (97km/h) run of 6.9 seconds.
“What puts our auction model into the realm of extraordinary is its superb modifications that include a supercharged engine,” said Derrick.
Also going on sale are a 1956 Chevrolet 210 two-door restomod, a 1967 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible, and a 1956 Chevrolet V8 3600 truck.
1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Roadster
In the European section, a beautiful 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL roadster with a removable hardtop will be on offer to bidders, and with approximately 4,000 examples of this vehicle ever coming out of the factory, it rivals the rarest of the rare.
Another BMW, this time a 1971 E9 3.0 CSi, is also being put on auction, and for the Alfa Romeo lovers, not least a 1969 Spider 1750, a 1971 GTV Junior 2.0 Bertone, and a 1972 GT Junior 1600 will be up for grabs.
The full catalogue of cars that are being auctioned off can be viewed online on the Creative Rides website as well as on-site between Wednesday, November 30th, and Friday, December 2nd.
The unreserved and reserved auction starts on 3 December at 11h00 in the morning, and it will be both in-person and streamed online on the company’s website and social platforms.
