Taiwan based e-mobility company Gogoro announced this week that it has surpassed 500,000 monthly battery swapping subscribers in its home market.
The brand, which was founded in 2011, makes a range of electric mopeds that are a common choice of vehicle in the Asian nation. Instead of recharging the batteries, their batteries can be swapped.
Gogoro launched its battery swapping service in 2015 for its vehicle platforms and has since enabled more than 325 million battery swaps, with up to 340,000 swaps per day.

The Taiwanese company now supports ten vehicle manufacturers which account for more than 92% of Taiwan’s electric two-wheel refuelling.
Gogoro offers a range of electric scooters itself, all of which can naturally use the company’s battery swapping stations. But across all 10 brands using Gogoro’s battery swap technology there are a total of 47 different two-wheel electric models available.

And, with nearly 11,000 battery swapping GoStation cabinets at over 2,240 locations across Taiwan, its no surprise the number of battery swaps have hit such impressive milestones.
“Gogoro’s half-million battery swapping subscribers is an amazing testament to our growth and momentum as a company, but more importantly it represents 500,000 individual stories and 500,000 people who have chosen to embrace sustainable transportation to lead Taiwan into a sustainable future,” said Horace Luke, founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Gogoro.
“Taiwan is an excellent example of how an open battery swapping ecosystem can enable governments, businesses, vehicle makers and riders to embrace sustainable electric transportation.”
In February, Gogoro announced it had made its one millionth battery, declaring it a testament to the success of its battery swapping system.
