Big Block C3 Looks Like a Deserving Restoration Candidate
This C3 Corvette needs work, but it’ll be worth it.
Promising Project
While we tend to focus on cars that are original survivors or full-blown restorations a lot, there are plenty of promising projects out there for the folks that like to do a little bit of wrenching. Thus, we were highly interested in this 1970 Corvette that recently popped up on eBay, which looks like a fantastic project for someone.

One Big Problem
This is also an original big block car, which obviously makes it even more desirable, though there is one major problem – that powerplant and the car’s transmission are long gone and aren’t included with the sale. However, to us at least, that makes it prime for a modern upgrade in that department.

Some Modifications
The seller has made some other modifications to the car, but nothing that can’t be reversed easily. Those include a standard small block and 1981-1982 hood (no big block unit), and electric headlights, while the seller also has most of the parts for the hidden wiper doors, but apparently not all of them.

Needs Love
This convertible comes with a hardtop, however, as well as the convertible top frame, while the seller also notes that this particular car was originally Daytona Yellow with a 454 under its hood. Today, it’s a hodgepodge of colors and finishes and obviously needs quite a bit of love.

Buzz Kill
With around roughly 7,000 drop-top Corvettes built in 1970, this car is obviously a desirable one, though the missing drivetrain is a major buzz kill for anyone hoping to restore it to its original condition. On the other hand, it makes for an intriguing project if you aren’t going that route.

Generating Interest
After receiving a host of bids that quickly drove the price up, this particular shell of C3 wound up selling to someone, but it’s unclear for how much. Regardless, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it back on the road looking better than ever in the near future.
