Mercedes-Benz has received orders for a total of 450 eVito from two customers. The British vehicle rental company Northgate Vehicle Hire has ordered 350 electric transporters, while an order for 150 eVito comes from the Swiss parcel service Quickpac.
According to the publication Professional Van, Northgate is to become the first rental company to offer the Mercedes eVito to its customers in the UK. The total of 350 units are to be put into the company’s fleets in the course of this year.
The Mercedes-Benz eVito is to be used with the larger battery that was unveiled in December 2021. The battery now comes with an energy content of 60 kWh (net, 66 kWh gross) and is said to offer a range of up to 314 kilometres according to WLTP. “The ongoing analysis of the mileage data produced across our customers’ fleets proves that the range provided by the eVito is more than practical for their daily usage,” said Neil McCrossan, Northgate’s sales and marketing director.
The rental company already offers Volkswagen’s Abt E-Transporter, the Peugeot e-Expert as well as the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter. With the eVito, Northgate is thus offering its customers in Great Britain another electric transporter option
The 100 electric transporters will be distributed among the Quickpac depots in Dietikon, Hägendorf, St. Gallen and Winterthur, and Bern near where Quickpac signed a lease last month to build its fifth new depot in Ostermundigen.
Quickpac has been delivering parcels with electric vehicles since 2019. The lease for the fourth depot – which was at St. Gallen at the time – was signed in summer 2021. With the construction of the fifth depot, Quickpac is thus expanding emission-free and quiet parcel delivery with electric vehicles.
