Last month Clark County Nevada approved plans to extend the “Vegas Loop” by 25 miles and 18 stations underneath the iconic Las Vegas strip, including the airport. According to the Las Vegas Sun the underground EV tunnel network has now received another approval to expand even further.
“The Vegas Loop will be expanding its reach once again following a 6-0 vote during Tuesday’s Las Vegas planning commission meeting in favor of the company updating their route to include more track throughout Las Vegas city limits.” said the Las Vegas Sun
The network is a series of tunnels and stations built by The Boring Company, a SpaceX subsidiary, which is revolutionising tunnelling technology. With no exhaust fumes, electric vehicles open up new possibilities for subterranean transport.

“It’s gonna change the way that we travel up and down the boulevard and hopefully to the airport and to Allegiant Stadium and everything else,” Commissioner Trinity Haven Schlottman said.
“I love the fact that we have the connectivity and downtown and the Medical District and everything.”
The Las Vegas Sun says that although station plans were provided with the application, city officials said stations would be determined at a later date following site development plan reviews. Potential locations for new stations include Area 15, the Medical District and Symphony Park according to the Boring Company’s Stephanie Allen.

Once the Vegas Loop is fully operational, it is projected to cost $US12 for a 7.7 mile (12 km) ride from downtown to the Harry Reid International Airport, according to The Boring Company.
With the approval from the Las Vegas planning commission, the Vegas Loop will now have a total of 69 planned stations and over 65 miles (105 km) of tunnels.
