Premium car rental company SIXT will launch a new branch in Vancouver, B.C., and later Toronto, as it looks to accelerate its expansion plans across Canada. The Munich-based company has more than 100 rental locations in 23 states in the U.S., offering premium rental cars like BMWs and Mercedes-Benzes. SIXT branches are in more than 36 U.S. airport states, and it operates in more than 100 countries worldwide.
But the move to Canada is important for SIXT, the company said in a release. “Expanding into Canada is a huge step for our business, and we are excited to bring the premium SIXT experience to our northern neighbours,” Thomas C. Kennedy, president and chief financial officer at SIXT North America, was quoted.
“Vancouver is a gateway to the world-famous Whistler ski resort and an important leisure and commercial port city bringing both corporate and leisure travellers year-round. Toronto is a financial and commercial hub with strong seasonal traffic enjoying the endless Canadian summers and outdoor activities.”
SIXT has pinned its first office in downtown Vancouver’s Library Square, close to hotels, theatres, and stadiums. It’s also accessible via major transit routes. “SIXT’s first Canadian branch office will be located at one of Vancouver’s most impressive buildings in the city, and our fleet is unique and impressive. Our customers will appreciate the high-quality fleet of new premium sedans and SUVs, including various BMW models and the Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 SUV with seating for up to seven passengers,” David Wong, SIXT Canada regional vice-president, said.
The company plans to offer digital counter-bypass access to customers that subscribe to the platform. It will enable customers to bypass the counter and pre-select the vehicle they want to reserve within two hours of pick-up.
SIXT also has an app which allows users to subscribe, rent, and share rides.
