Dutch electric bus and charging infrastructure manufacturer Ebusco has received its first order for the Swedish market. Public transport company Svealandstrafiken has signed a contract with Ebusco for 23 examples of the 18-metre-long Ebusco 3.0, to be delivered in the second half of 2023.
Svealandstrafiken is owned by the regions of Västmanland and Örebro Län, which are located inland to the west of Stockholm. In both regions, more than 65,000 passengers travel by bus per day. The majority of the bus services are managed directly by Svealandstrafiken, while a minority are handled by subcontractors.
Once the electric articulated buses are delivered, Ebusco vehicles will be on the road in eight countries. “We are very excited to expand our footprint in the Scandics,” says Ebusco CEO Peter Bijvelds. “Earlier this year we hired Jonas Helsner as our dedicated Sales Director in the Nordics. This order in Sweden is a perfect next step within our expansion strategy.” Ebusco does not disclose the financial scope of the order from Svealandstrafiken in the statement.
Ebusco had unveiled the 3.0 in October 2019, and the vehicle is said to feature, among other things, a lighter body that allows for a longer range. In addition to the 18-metre articulated bus, the Ebusco 3.0 is also available as a twelve-metre solo bus with electric drive. However, the manufacturer continues to offer the Ebusco 2.2 model.
