In Turkiye, (formerly called Turkey) the country’s first electric vehicle charging provider Eşarj plans to build 1,000 stations by the end of 2023. Eşarj will direct over 90 per cent of its new investments to fast-charging stations with at least one DC station in each of 81 provinces by the end of this year.
Eşarj, is majority-owned (94 per cent) by Enerjisa Energy, which was founded in 1996, stating on its website that “We have the ultimate goal to provide the best service in every field of the electric industry and create innovative solutions.” In 2018, Enerjisa Energy completed the purchase Eşarj and expanded its vehicle charging station network in Turkiye through its cooperation with the fuel distribution company Kadoil.
Murat Pinar, chairperson of Esarj and CEO of Enerjisa Enerji said: “We are aware of how valuable the time spent at the stations is for EV drivers. Esarj focuses on the efficient use of time, and, we prioritise DC charging stations, attach significance to locating our charging stations in areas where our customers may spend more time, or in areas where they may enjoy their time during charging.”
Esarj currently operates 383 DC and 163 AC stations, in 57 provinces, saying that the charging network provides and is reported to be “the first charging operator with renewable energy certification, the first with DC charging stations and the first with contracts with EV brands.” Photos online show Esarj charging stations with branding with Shell Recharge, ChargeNow and Renault, among others.
