The 1932-1933 Auburn 12-cylinder speedster is commonly recognized as one of the few authentic American sports cars of that period. Its Twelve chassis allowed for exceptional proportions, featuring an elongated front end concealing a powerful 491-cubic-inch V-12 engine, followed by a two-passenger compartment that wrapped around and flowed into a rounded “boattail” design. Sporting a stunning Art Deco style with a two-tone color scheme, it gave off an impression of speed and, for its time, was quite fast.
In fact, one notable example even competed in early SCCA events. It remains one of the most sought-after automobiles of its time, and, like its corporate sibling, the mighty Duesenberg, it has always been in high demand, even during the 1940s and 1950s when most cars from its era were considered “used.”
