If you absolutely must have carbon fiber in every aspect of your life, this is the sports car for you.
Buyers of the insane Donkervoort F22 will now have the option to order their vehicle bare-naked, Bare Naked Carbon, that is. For years the company has been releasing highly limited special editions of sports cars with the coveted lack of paint, and this time it realized, why not spread the bare-naked love to every buyer?
There's apparently been unprecedented interest in the Bare Naked look beyond its usual markets of Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Germany, with the first model to roll off the line being delivered to the UAE. Now all 100 people who order an F22 around the world will be given the option to see the carbon fiber bodywork through either a clear coat or a see-through colored coat.

Not like the car's looks need help. The F22 with regular paint is still a certified looker, and with almost 500 horsepower under the hood thanks to a modified Audi RS3 turbo five-cylinder, it's an absolute missile that can rocket from 0-62 in 2.5 seconds and 0-124 in 7.5 seconds. It borders on hypercar fast, and now it has the Bare Naked Carbon look that hypercars like Bugattis and Koenigseggs feature too.
“The X-Ray-style of Bare Naked lets customers see and show off the absolute precision of Donkervoort's patented Ex-Core carbon-fiber technology, and the range of available clear colors is greater than ever,” says Denis Donkervoort, Managing Director. “The buzz behind the F22 has introduced a new buyer group to our brand and broadened our extended customer family, and if they all want to go Bare Naked into the world, we will not stand in their way.”

Besides “Bare Naked” sounding hilarious and looking great, there's also a tangible difference in the weight of the car, with the option trimming 22 lbs from the weight of the car. Additionally, choosing the carbon fiber wheels chops an extra 22 lbs for savings of 44 lbs in all; not bad for a car that only weighs 1,609 lbs normally. It's this light weight that makes these cars better for the environment than if they were to go electric.
Donkervoort says even with this weight change, the acceleration times mentioned before are still the same, but the power-to-weight ratio does increase from 666 horsepower per ton to 685 hp per ton. A welcome increase, even if the number isn't as entertaining as before.
As more F22s arrive with customers worldwide, it's going to be interesting to see just how many of them decide to go with the bare option.
