McLaren's gaming-inspired single-seater roars to life up Lord March's driveway.
Almost a year ago, McLaren unveiled the Solus GT, and now the V10-powered single-seater has made its so-called “dynamic debut,” strutting its stuff on the climb up Lord March's driveway at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The famed British automaker is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and, at the annual motoring extravaganza, has showcased both the Solus GT and the new McLaren 750S, as well as the Artura, a supercar that continues to give Woking major headaches. But we're not here to dwell on the shortcomings of the manufacturer; we're here to appreciate all the excellence it is capable of, and that starts by listening to that V10 engine sing.

Just 25 customer cars will be built, each featuring a seat fitted to the exact dimensions of the buyer. The 5.2-liter V10 revs to north of 10,000 rpm, producing 829 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque along the way, enough to get from 0-62 mph in just 2.5 seconds. Top speed? Over 200 mph. For a car like the Solus GT, built only to attack twisting circuits, that's more than enough.
Other track-only vehicles on display include the 12C GT3, the 650S GT3, the 570S GT4, the 720S GT3 X (which was fastest in the timed shootout at Goodwood in 2021), the GT3 Evo, and the non-hybrid Artura Trophy.

Still not impressed? What about some former F1 cars, like the MP4/14 with Mika Hakkinen behind the wheel? Bruno Senna will also drive his uncle Aytron's MP4/6, while Le Mans 24 Hours race winner JJ Lehto will pilot Lewis Hamilton's 2008 MP4/23.
As mentioned, the Artura will also go up the hill, and so will the P1 hypercar, which is a decade old in 2023 but has new battery tech for even greater performance. The hardcore McLaren Senna will also attack the course, as will the roofless McLaren Elva and the very first MP4-12C, known as 12C Job #1.
If you're a McLaren fan, we can't think of a better place to indulge your desires.
