The company boss desscribed the new car as a “dream come true.”
Now that it has a solid range of everyday sedans and crossovers like the Giulia and Tonale, Alfa Romeo will be turning its attention to something much more exciting next month when it is set to reveal a new car. Accompanied by the line “dare to dream,” the automaker shared nothing else but an obscure image of a grille that doesn't give us much insight into what this car will be.
However, we already knew that the company was planning a supercar, expected to be known as the 6C, and Autocar has reported that this is the vehicle that will be revealed on August 30. Inspired by the T33 Stradale, the reveal of the car will coincide with the Italian Grand Prix that will be held in Monza.

“The project is a dream come true, inspired by a daring team that wanted to achieve something unique,” said the company's boss, Jean-Philippe Imparato, when speaking in China earlier this week.
Back in February, we learned that the new supercar was almost sold out even though it had yet to be revealed or even officially approved by the brand's management, so the excitement for a halo Alfa is palpable.
“It will be sold out before I unveil the car,” said Imparato at the time. He also said that the car will “contribute to the DNA” of the Alfa brand, and hopefully, that's as much true for its performance as it is for its styling, especially considering the breathtaking beauty of the 8C Competizione.
“We are working on something that I could put aside the 8C in the Museum of Arese,” claimed Imparato earlier this year.

Based on the likely 6C name, the new supercar will be equipped with a six-cylinder engine, and we already know that Alfa has a sublime one in the Giulia Quadrifoglio. In that car, the 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 delivers 505 horsepower, but its on-paper specifications don't tell the full story of an engine that is blessed with a spine-tingling aural character. If this is indeed the foundation of the 6C's powertrain, we have a lot to look forward to.
Based on other comments made by Imparato, the new supercar will come with a lofty price tag, while TopGear has reported that there will be a focus on sales in China and a goal for 40% sales outside Europe. Fortunately, the company is also working on a more accessible GTV coupe successor that should be produced in higher volumes.
Either way, Alfa looks set to return to its unashamedly sporty roots, and we can't wait to see what the new model looks like next month.
