Alfa Romeo has made emotion-stirring cars for over 100 years but with just 3 models on sale today which is the cheapest?
Italian stunners
If Alfa Romeo has done one thing correctly through its 123 years, it’s that their cars are achingly beautiful and its designs manage to stir up emotions. Their cars may not always have had the best reputation for reliability and were well known for having electrical and mechanical issues in certain models.
With much of that in the brand’s past now, the Italian company is still known for making beautiful cars that still manage to stir the soul, but which model currently on sale in South Africa is the cheapest?
Alfa Romeo Stelvio
The Stelvio is an endearing creation. It’s a vehicle that begs to be driven in a spirited manner and then looks gobsmacking gorgeous when you walk away from it. It’s not without a few quirks but these all whittle away into the dust when you get on with it. There are very few vehicles out there that feel like they’re more than just modes of transport and the Stelvio is one of those. If you have to go the SUV route, you can do a far lot worse than the Stelvio, and truth be told, unless you get a Stelvio, you probably will.

Alfa Romeo Giulia
There was no point during the Giulia’s weeklong stay where we weren’t excited to climb on board and go for a drive, and that’s really important in a sports saloon car. Its combination of style, grin-inducing handling and clever packaging makes it our favourite new Alfa Romeo product. Unfortunately, it has incredibly accomplished rivals and competes in a declining segment, meaning that only the Alfisti among us are likely to take the plunge.

Alfa Romeo Tonale
The Tonale was a product with so much promise, with its stunning exterior, well-put-together interior and seemingly solid packaging and ergonomics. However, its hybrid powertrain hampers this product, and this sluggish engine in combination with overly sharp steering and a firm ride quality means you have a product with mismatched dynamics, which is disappointing considering how great its Stelvio and Giulia siblings are to drive.

Verdict
Currently, the cheapest Alfa Romeo you can buy is the Tonale 1.5T Hybrid Speciale. These Italian supermodels don’t come cheap but the super stylish, Euro-cool looks will keep you happy for years to come.
