The NamX HUV concept has six hydrogen capsules that provide up to 497 miles of range.
NamX and Pininfarina will display the innovative HUV concept at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, set to take place next week.
Designed by the famed styling house Pininfarina, the crossover concept is a truly remarkable vehicle. Unlike other hydrogen-powered vehicles such as the Toyota Mirai, the HUV features a removable tank system that would allow owners to refuel the car in a unique way. Six capsules slot into the rear of the car, and provide as much as 497 miles of range.
The capsules can simply be refueled at hydrogen filling stations and delivered to the driver. Alternatively, one could also collect these novel items at CapXtores. In terms of performance, the base rear-wheel-drive derivative produces 300 horsepower and can scuttle to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds. The top speed is a claimed at 124 mph.

Should you require more performance, a sportier GTH will be offered. With 550 hp on tap, this derivative can hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds before hitting a top speed of 155 mph.
The vehicle will be put on display at the Future Lab, which will showcase “Technology for a Better World” at this year's event. NamX and the HUV concept will be showcased in the “Powering the Future” exhibition, which will include other designs that preview the future of efficient high-speed motoring.
“We are honored to be featured in the Future Lab as a technological solution for a better world,” said a NamX representative. “The HUV represents more than just a design; it embodies innovation at its core. Our dual ambition is to become a leading name in zero-emission vehicles and continuously explore new frontiers to enhance consumer mobility. NamX is a collaborative project that brings together the finest industrial and technical partners across Europe and Africa.”

Last year, the vehicle was also displayed at the Paris Motor Show.
This isn't just another futuristic concept that won't see the light of day. NamX has real plans to put the HUV into production and is aiming for a Q4 2025 debut. Pricing is expected to range between the $68,300 and $99,900 mark, putting it in the seriously competitive premium end of the market. Should it arrive in the USA, the HUV would go head-to-head with other eco-conscious SUVs like the Cadillac Lyriq and BMW iX.
It will be interesting to see if this unique hydrogen capsule idea will appeal to customers. Typically, it takes between three and five minutes to refuel a hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle. While that's more convenient than charging a typical electric vehicle, the issue with hydrogen-powered cars is the lack of infrastructure.
If you're at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the NamX HUV concept is definitely worth looking at.
