The UK’s biggest automotive event is back for another year, and tickets are on sale now
The 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed will open its doors in June with the theme ‘The innovators – masterminds of motorsport’ focussing on innovation both on and off the circuit. The four day event is set to be held on June 23 – 26 and tickets are on sale now from £47.
Though we'll have to wait a little longer for further details, Goodwood has now revealed that the 2022 centre feature will celebrate 50 years of BMW M, showcasing some of the marque's most iconic models. This year's event will be host to a number of exciting launches from BMW M, with CEO Frank van Meel adding: 'I am particularly looking forward to unveiling a certain vehicle to the world’s public for the first time – a vehicle we have been waiting a long time for.'

This year’s festival will celebrate the engineers, designers and drivers that broke through barriers to arrive at significant milestones in development and engineering. A full run-down of this year’s show stars are still to be announced officially, but Goodwood references Ferrari, BRM and Rimac in its announcement, confirming that many of these icons of automotive development will also make their way up the famous Goodwood hill on Sunday’s Shootout.
Founder of the Festival of Speed, the Duke of Richmond said: ‘This year’s Festival theme – ‘The Innovators – Masterminds of Motorsport’ – allows us to celebrate some of the greatest achievements in history, while also highlighting the event’s evolving focus on future technology.
Just as race-inspired innovations such as four-valve engines, monocoque chassis and turbocharging have shaped the past and present of the cars we drive in the real world, so electrification, autonomy and other new technologies – the development of which is accelerated by the white heat of competition – will have a profound effect on the future of personal mobility.’
As always, the event will feature a raft of new and unreleased performance cars on both static display and driving up the famous hillclimb, with priceless historics, motorsport icons and cutting-edge concepts also in attendance. First introduced in 2021, ‘Electric Avenue’ is confirmed to be making a return in 2022 to showcase the very latest all-electric models.
Both Festival of Speed and Revival will partner with two new charities for 2022, Sir Jackie Stewart’s Race Against Dementia and Aldingbourne Trust. Further details on next year’s events will be announced in due course, but considering the impressive scale of 2021’s restricted Festival of Speed, a ‘full capacity’ event in 2022 should be back up to full strength.
Goodwood Festival of Speed 2022 will take place on June 23 – 26, and tickets are on sale here from £47. Goodwood Revival will also take place on September 16 – 18, and as we saw in 2021, a ‘Ticket Guarantee’ allows for full refunds or ticket transfers should the government halt proceedings due to the pandemic.
