This is according to a study by an American insurance website.
American insurance website Insurify conducted a study to identify which cars crash the most in the US using its database of more than 4.6 million car insurance applications. The report stated that 7.6% of US drivers were involved in at least one at-fault accident in the past seven years, standing as the national average.
Insurify did not provide reasons for the crashes. However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released a study last year that drug and alcohol positivity is one of the main culprits in severe or fatal crashes.
Topping Insurify's list for 2023 is the Audi S4 which had an 11.7% at-fault accident record. The website added that Audi S4 owners “get into accidents at a rate 54 percent higher than the national average.”

The percentage of accidents was recorded despite the S4 being equipped with safety features such as forward collision detection, auto emergency braking, and lane-departure warning.
Coming in a close second is the Scion iA, which recorded an 11.5% at-fault accident record. One of the possible reasons why the iA came in second is that Scion, formerly under the Toyota umbrella, was marketed to young or first-time drivers. The Japanese automaker axed the Scion brand in 2016 as it fell short in unit sales and has not fully captured its target market.
Completing the podium of cars involved in accidents in the US in 2023 is the Chevrolet Volt with an 11% at-fault accident record. The Volt was axed by Chevrolet in 2019, regarded by some as a car launched in the wrong era.

The Volt comes with a hybrid powertrain that can incur a costly battery replacement amounting to $30,000.
The Hyundai Veloster N, which is another discontinued model in the US, took the fourth spot with a 10.9% at-fault accident record. Insurify states that Veloster N owners “got into at-fault accidents 43% more often than the national average.”
Completing the top five cars that crash the most in the US is the Toyota GR86, which finished a hairline behind the Veloster N withs a 10.8% at-fault accident record. In 2022, Toyota reported that the GR86 sales went up by 326%, which is good for the Japanese car brand.
However, the GR86 is bothering Toyota regarding warranty claims involving its engine.
