If you can't quite afford the hefty price required to purchase the new Ferrari Purosangue, famed model car creator Amalgam has created a more cost-effective solution that will be even rarer than the real thing.
While it looks like the real deal, the Purosangue pictured here is an accurate 1:8 scale recreation of the first-ever production four-door Ferrari. Amalgam plans on making just 199 units of its Purosangue tribute, with each example receiving undivided attention from the company's team of craftsmen.
Every single piece of the model is hand-built by a small team, which uses the very best materials to lovingly screw these models together. Amalgam says the 1:8 Purosangue took more than 3,000 hours to develop. Building just a single unit takes more than 300 hours, which underscores the attention to detail that goes into each piece.
To ensure the model is a true recreation of the life-sized vehicle, Amalgam has poured over Ferrari's CAD designs, material specifications, and even the varied palette of color codes to ensure each and every detail is perfect.
If you want one for the mantelpiece or your desk, you may want to rethink that decision. The Purosangue 1:8 scale model is surprisingly large and measures more than 24 inches in length. Like Ferrari's own Tailor Made bespoke service, Amalgam will offer customers the chance to customize their model and even match it to their very own Purosangue. Perhaps Piero Ferrari should order one in Verde Dora to match his uniquely-specced example.
Once completed, all models will be subjected to a rigorous quality control process by both the design and engineering teams at Amalgam.
Even though Ferrari is reticent to call it an SUV, that's exactly what the Purosangue is. But this isn't your average crossover. The mighty 6.5-liter V12 engine produces 715 horsepower, enough muscle to rocket the Purosangue to 62 mph in 3.3 seconds before hitting the limiter at 193 mph.
While not as svelte as Maranello's other offerings, there's no denying the Purosangue is a strikingly styled vehicle. Sleek lines flow from the front and carry on to the rear, where you'll find the elegant decklid, giving the Ferrari a fastback-like look. Of course, the interior is just as exquisite. Amalgam has captured every single detail, down to the passenger side screen and the sculpted bucket seats.
If you're interested, Amalgam will sell you its baby Purosangue for $15,995, which is a steal when compared to the sub-$400,000 asking price of the real thing.
