Lando Norris is looking forward to racing in a chrome-colored McLaren.
The McLaren Formula 1 team will revive its chrome livery for the upcoming 2023 British Grand Prix at Silverstone – a nod to the team's car from 2006 to 2014. This era was particularly good for McLaren, especially when Sir Lewis Hamilton clinched the Driver's World Championship by a single point from Ferrari in 2008.
The British F1 team also saw it fitting to bring back the livery since it was the same year Google, its primary sponsor, launched the Chrome browser. That said, the chrome throwback livery at McLaren's home F1 race makes sense to maximize marketing mileage.

However, the special chrome livery isn't a complete throwback to Hamilton's winning F1 car. Understandable, as McLaren's current Papaya Orange team color needs to be showcased in the car.
The chrome livery also celebrates McLaren's 60th anniversary, a follow-up to McLaren F1's Triple Crown livery revealed during the Monaco Grand Prix. The latter is a tribute to McLaren Racing's iconic feat of winning the Motorsport Triple Crown: victory at the Indianapolis 500, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the Monaco Grand Prix.

McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris, who had the best finish in the 2023 season in the Austrian Grand Prix, is excited about the new livery, claiming that he has been waiting to race onboard a chrome-themed McLaren F1 car.
“I fell in love with McLaren because of the livery. As a kid, I was just into whatever was cool, and McLaren, for me, was the coolest. Seeing this car got me into Formula 1 in the first place,” Norris said.
Norris, who owns a bespoke McLaren 765LT Spider, will also have a unique helmet design and boots for the 2023 British Grand Prix. Moreover, both Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri will wear special race suits for the upcoming race weekend, happening on July 7-9, 2023.
