Tata has sold the Nexon EV in over 500 cities across India, covering a whopping distance of over 900 million kilometres and still counting. The company claims its customers are using the Nexon EV for long trips, stretching up to 1500 kilometres at a time.
It is reported that EV owners are driving around 63 lakh kilometres, on average, in a month. This covers both the city and outstation trips. This impressive mileage figure is made possible by India’s rapidly expanding charging infrastructure.
India has seen tremendous growth in the charging infrastructure, which clocks over 1,500 per cent between FY21 and FY23. Currently, Tata Motors has installed over 6,000 charging stations across the dealerships in India.
Vivek Srivatsa, Head, Marketing, Sales, and Service Strategy, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said, “The Nexon EV was introduced as India’s own electric SUV with the aim of offering a cool, stylish, practical and real-world solution for faster EV adoption in India.
The Nexon EV customers have grown to 50,000 in just 3 years. This is a testament to how India has embraced EVs as the mobility of the current times – he added.
He also thanked the early adopters of electric mobility, who believed in the promise of the Nexon EV and helped develop the EV ecosystem, shaping it into what it is today.
Tata Motors revealed that the electric variant of the Nexon SUV now accounts for 15 per cent of its total Nexon sales. The company recently launched a top-end variant of the Nexon EV Max called the MAX XZ+ Lux, with a starting price of Rs 18.79 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
This top-end variant has a 10.25 inch HD infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay over WiFi, HD rearview camera, Harman audio system, a voice assistant in 6 languages, 180+ voice commands in six languages, and a new User Interface, among other features.
Tata offers Nexon EV in 3 categories – Prime, Max, and Dark, each with a range of variants. The starting price of the Tata Nexon EV is Rs 14.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and goes all the way up to Rs 19.54 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
In terms of features, the Nexon EV has leatherette ventilated seats, wireless charger, electric sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, multi-drive modes, and multi-regen options. On the safety front, it gets ESP with iVBAC, electronic parking brake with auto hold, dual airbags, and all-disc brakes.
The Nexon EV Max is powered by a 40.5kWh battery pack, which powers a front-wheel-drive electric motor that produces 143bhp and 250Nm of torque. The EV has an ARAI-claimed range of 453km and supports fast charging.
The Prime model is equipped with a 30.2kWh battery pack that powers a front-wheel-drive electric motor producing 127bhp and 245Nm of torque. The Nexon EV Prime has an ARAI-claimed range of 312km.
