cape town, rugby world cup, springboks, springbok world cup trophy tour arrives in cape town today – route and road closures

The Springboks are continuing their hard-won victory lap of the country with a stopover in Cape Town on the 3rd of November that will give fans a chance to celebrate alongside the team as they parade through the city streets with the Webb Ellis Cup.

Having secured a nail-biting victory against the New Zealand All Blacks this past weekend, the Boks were first welcomed home when they touched down at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Gauteng before going on to tour the metros of Pretoria and Johannesburg in their green and gold bus.

The rugby team still has plenty of activities to go before they take a well-deserved break with several events planned in many of South Africa’s biggest cities, but for now, it is Cape Town’s turn to celebrate alongside the boys in green.

“Let’s thank the boys for inspiring a nation and show them we are proud of their incredible performance, not only in the final but throughout the tournament,” said the city’s mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis.

“It is our honour as Cape Town to receive the team and the Mother City is ready to give the Springboks a hero’s welcome.”
