The Perodua Axia E spec has been officially launched (or relaunched) with a retail price of RM22,000 (without insurance) primarily for those with a very constrained budget.
The Axia E is based on the preceding Axia model which was introduced in 2017, rather than the current generation that sits on the latest Daihatsu platform, mainly to allow for a more reasonable price tag. This Axia is certified with a 4-star Asean NCAP rating by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS).
The Perodua Axia E was introduced by Perodua Chairman Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin. Since its launch in 2014 (up till 31 May 2023), Perodua has registered 606,756 units of the Axia model, including the all-new Axia which was launched in February 2023.
“The Perodua Axia E is part of our original objective of providing affordable and quality mobility for all Malaysians,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said. He revealed that the company is targeting to sell up to 1,500 units of this Axia E a month. The primary buyers would be individuals as well as fleet customers e.g. driving schools, etc.
“While we do not dictate who our customers are, we believe that having this model would be a welcome option by majority of Malaysians,” he added.
The Perodua Axia E comes only with a manual transmission and is fitted with 2 airbags, seat belt reminder for the driver, and a 5-year warranty. There are 3 body colour options available i.e. Ivory White, Glittering Silver and the new Granite Grey.
“The Perodua Axia E has been market tested and proven over years and we believe that this variant would serve its current role of giving motorcycle owners an opportunity to own a new car,” Dato’ Sri Zainal said. “Based on our discussion with local financial institutions, we found that it only takes RM300 per month to pay the hire purchase cost of owning the Axia E. This is the same cost that would take for someone to buy a brand-new motorcycle on hire purchase”.
