Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN a.k.a. National Registration Department) has picked the Isuzu D-Max pickup truck as its vehicle of choice for use in remote areas. The highly-capable Isuzu D-Max will assist JPN officers in their task of visiting remote Orang Asli villages around the country for their citizenship registration exercise.
“Isuzu pickup trucks have proudly earned the recognition and established a reputation of being capable vehicles in all kinds of challenging terrain. Isuzu’s ability to get the job done has been second to none and we are confident that these new D-Max trucks will be able to serve the needs of JPN in their tasks,” said Mr. Kenkichi Sogo, Chief Operating Officer of Isuzu Malaysia, who presented 3 D-Max 3.0L to Director General of JPN, En. Zamri bin Misman in Kuala Rompin.
Mr. Sogo said that Isuzu’s proven reputation as a trusted vehicle would positively enhance the efficiency and capabilities of the department’s tasks. Besides the vehicle’s powerful yet efficient 3.0L engine (187 hp; 450 Nm), mated to an advanced 4-wheel drive system that features a differential lock for superior off-road traction, it also has class-leading water wading ability of 800 mm. This feature allows the vehicle to traverse streams, rivers or flooded roads confidently, enabling the JPN team to get to their destination and back safely.
The 3 Isuzu D-Max pickups will be put to service at the JPN office in Kuala Mu, Perak; Gua Musang, Kelantan and Kuala Rompin, Pahang. Its primary role will be to move in collaboration with the Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli (JAKOA) and enter remote Orang Asli villages to register villagers, particularly newborns in those regions.
To ensure the safe passage of the pickup and its passengers in and out of remote areas, all the Isuzu D-Max for JPN have been fitted with an electric winch, bull bars, a canopy as well as mud terrain tyres.
