Porsche Malaysia, represented by Sime Darby Auto Performance, has officially launched the locally assembled updated Porsche Cayenne. Porsche’s iconic “sports car for 5″ has been extensively refreshed with more luxury and performance, and is still the only Porsche model assembled outside of Europe (in Kulim, Kedah to be exact).

“Just months after making its global debut, the new locally assembled Cayenne arrives in Malaysia – underlining the importance of this market and the wider ASEAN region,” said Hannes Ruoff, Chief Executive Officer of Porsche Asia Pacific. “The new Cayenne features one of the most extensive product upgrades in the history of Porsche, and with this enhanced specification made specifically for Malaysia, we hope to fulfill more sports car dreams for our customers and fans here”.
The new Cayenne features a highly digitalised display and control concept, new chassis technology and an enhanced local specification. “We are proud to launch the new locally assembled Cayenne, providing a range of enhanced standard features specifically catered to our customers in Malaysia. The Cayenne is one of the most popular luxury SUVs in the region, proving its credentials time and time again through strong customer demand,” shared Christopher Hunter, Chief Executive Officer of Sime Darby Auto Performance.
Since its introduction in 2002, the Cayenne, Porsche’s sports car for 5, has become an icon in its own right, establishing itself as an important member of the Porsche model line-up. The new locally assembled Cayenne is fitted with an enhanced standard equipment package which includes items like Adaptive Cruise Control, soft-close doors, door card trim and the Sport Chrono Package. Elevated standard equipment levels from the previous locally assembled Cayenne are also retained in the new Cayenne e.g. the 14-way electric comfort seats with memory package, Porsche crests embossed on the front headrests, 4-zone climate control and electric roll-up sun blinds for the rear windows.
Appearance-wise, though it still carries the recognisable Cayenne look, the new Cayenne gets updates to both front and rear with new Matrix LED headlights, bonnet, front apron, front fender, sleek tail lights with 3D elements and central strip, tailgate, and rear apron accommodating new number plate placement. The 20″ Cayenne Design wheels are standard though you can opt for the 21″ Cayenne Exclusive Design or 22″ Sport Design wheels upon ordering. The same goes for the updated list of lifestyle-oriented Tequipment accessories such as Rear Seat Entertainment, roof tent, bike carrier etc.
Inside the Cayenne, the updates are quite noticeable. The completely new Porsche Driving Experience concept features a redesigned dashboard and centre console. Elements from the all-electric Taycan such as the 12.6″ curved digital instrument display, the gear selector, and the steering wheel with shift paddles are applied for an improved design and user concept. The relocated gear selector to the dashboard also allows for a redesign of the centre console with this space now housing a large climate control panel. Consequently, there space for a wireless phone charging compartment that is cooled. The cooling allows for an optimised charging power of up to 15 watts. Further, the high-resolution 12.3″ central display provides all necessary controls for the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) which manages the numerous driving and comfort functions as well as navigation and multimedia functions. In the new Cayenne, Porsche has also ensured that all necessary functions and controls can be accessed via physical toggles.
Other notable enhancements include the air quality system which protects occupants from pollutants. For example, the GPS can detect when the vehicle enters a tunnel and activates the air recirculation. An ioniser helps remove contaminants from the cabin.
Another enhancement is on the power side of things. The 3.0L V6 turbo has been updated with gains of 13 PS (to 353 PS / 348 hp) and 50 Nm (to 500 Nm. The engine continues to be paired with an 8-speed Tiptronic S gearbox. The adaptive air suspension system has also been revised with 2-chamber, 2-valve technology (compared with the previous 3-chamber, single valve) for improved body roll control and handling.
The new Porsche Cayenne bears a price tag starting from RM599,999. It is now available to order via mycayenne.online.
