The new Mercedes-Benz GLC was launched a few months ago, in April, in the GLC 300 4MATIC guise and fully imported, with a price at launch of RM429,888. Following from that, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia now has available the GLC 300 4MATIC proudly assembled at the brand’s production facility in Pekan, Pahang. The locally assembled Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC has a retail price of RM378,888 (on the road without insurance).
This GLC 300 is the sole variant offered and comes with the sporty AMG Line kit. Like the fully imported version, the AMG bodystyling on this one consists of AMG front apron with sporty air intakes and chrome trim element along with a diffuser-look AMG rear apron. The sporty look is completed with 20″ AMG multi-spoke light alloy wheels. The SUV also comes equipped with polished aluminium roof rails and aluminium-look running boards with rubber studs. Furthermore, the new rear design comes with the simulated underguard in chrome look, the tailpipe trims in chrome as well as 2-part rear lights with 3-dimensional design, which are connected by a glossy black trim element.
At the rear, the increased overhang results in a significantly larger luggage capacity of 620 litres, offering practicality for daily use and road trips. The GLC also has hands-free access to the boot via a kick sensor beneath the bumper, making loading and unloading a stress-free process.
At the front, the GLC uses the Mercedes-Benz Digital Light headlights which constantly adapts the illumination of the road according to lighting conditions, traffic situation, the course of the road and the weather. Also, the panoramic sliding sunroof provides a bright and pleasant ambience in the cabin.
As expected, the GLC 300 4MATIC also uses AMG Line styling in the interior. This includes several key features such as Artico man-made leather upholstery in black, Microcut microfibre and AMG sports pedals. Meanwhile, the multi-function sports steering wheel is wrapped in nappa leather.
The wing-shaped dashboard is host to an 11.9″ central ‘floating’ infotainment display. Both the dashboard and screen surface are subtly angled towards the driver for optimal visibility and convenience. The driver also has a 12.3″ high resolution display to clearly show driving and vehicle information. The driver also has at his/her disposal the latest generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system to elevate the vehicle’s digital capabilities and intelligence. Full-screen navigation gives the driver the best possible route guidance equipped with MBUX Augmented Reality. Audio entertainment is boosted by the Burmester 3D surround sound system with 15 high-performance speakers tuned to match the vehicle interior.
For convenience, the GLC features the new Parking package with 360-degree camera and Active Parking Assist with Parktronic. This combination ensures optimal visibility from all angles and facilitates the full parking process. In off-road mode, the GLC with 360-degree camera provides a “transparent bonnet” on the central display, offering a virtual view beneath the front of the vehicle, inclusive of the front wheels and their steering position, for manoeuvring around obstacles.
Powering the GLC 300 4MATIC is a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine which produces 258 hp (190 kW) @ 5,800 rpm and 400 Nm @ 2,000 – 3,200 rpm. The engine is paired with a 48 V mild hybrid system with a 2nd generation integrated starter generator and that adds 17 kW and 200 Nm, allowing the GLC 300 to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds; speed tops out at 240 km/h.
