The Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been one of the popular compact hatchbacks in India, and it was just a few months ago that we witnessed the launch of the second-generation model. The new Celerio came with a new design, several styling updates, and a host of new features. In fact, the car is now based on the company’s versatile Heartect platform and comes with a new 1.0-litre engine that makes it the country’s most fuel-efficient petrol car, at 26.68 kmpl. So, if you are considering the new-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio, here are five key highlights about the car that you should know.
1. The new-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio come with an all-new design and styling, which the company calls – the 3D organic sculpted design. So, we get to see a slightly toll-boy-ish look. The car also gets new 15-inch Urbane black alloy wheels, new droplet-styled taillights, a rear windshield wiper, and a new body-coloured bumper with reflectors.
2. Compared to the older Celerio, the new model gets a longer wheelbase, which translates to better cabin space. In fact, Maruti says that the boot capacity has also been increased by 40 per cent. The cabin also gets a new design layout with a designed dashboard, a new steering wheel and two ports for a 12V charger, USB and AUX-IN.
3. The car also gets a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with smartphone navigation. Other features on offer include – engine push start button with smart key, keyless entry, Pollen type AC filter, 60:40 split rear seats, and height-adjustable driver’s seat.
4. In terms of safety, Maruti says that the car comes with over 12 safety features, including the first-in-segment first-in-segment Hill Hold Assist function with the AGS/AMT variants. Other features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, front seat-belt reminder, high-speed alert and more.
5. Under the hood, the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio is equipped with a new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder Dual Jet, Dual VVT, K10C petrol engine that is tuned to develop 66 bhp and 89 Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox along with an optional AMT or AGS (Auto Gear Shift) unit.
