Suzuki recently introduced a new Grand Vitara range, and while it might be an attractive crossover model, we find out if it will be practical for individuals who enjoy bike rides on the weekend.
When writing this article, customers could choose between five Suzuki Grand Vitara derivatives. Four out of the five variants are powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 77 kW and 138 Nm of torque, which is sent through either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels.
The flagship GLX AllGrip derivative is motivated by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine bolstered with an electric motor. This combination produces 76 kW and 137 Nm of torque and sends it to all four wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. While the performance figures are lower, Suzuki claims an average fuel consumption return of 5.6 L / 100 km for this variant instead of the 6.0 L / 100 km figure that can be expected with the rest of the range.

Will a bike fit in the boot of a Suzuki Grand Vitara?
While you might expect that the additional battery system in the Hybrid variant could take up valuable space, it does not intrude into the cabin or, more importantly, the boot. Thus, with the entire Suzuki Grand Vitara range, you can expect 310 litres of boot space with the rear bench up and 1 147 litres with the rear seats folded flat.
While with the seats up, you might struggle to fit an entire bike, even perhaps by removing the front wheel. With the rear bench folded flat, we are confident that you should be able to fit a bicycle with some of your clothes, shoes, helmet and other small equipment pieces you might carry with you. Two bicycles might be more challenging, and we recommend opting for a bicycle rack.
