Suzuki hopes to introduce no less than six battery electric vehicles by 2039 in Japan and five in Europe. Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the Suzuki Swift concept at the firm’s Japan Mobility Show booth was the all-electric eVX SUV. Although debuting at the 2023 Auto Expo in India, this version displayed at the Japan Mobility Show features a fully fleshed-out interior. Additionally, the eVX displayed featured an electronically controlled 4×4 drive system reliant on multiple electric motors, possibly one per wheel, as a way of bolstering the SUV’s off-road capability.
“Suzuki has brought its expertise to bear on the field of electric vehicles, and we believe that it will benefit the entire auto industry. For instance, the new eVX Concept is a compact SUV, yet it is claimed to offer a range of 500 km on one battery charge” – Brendon Carpenter, the Brand Marketing Manager of Suzuki Auto South Africa.
The eVX is on track to become the first full battery-electric vehicle from the Japanese automaker when it arrives in 2025. Significantly at the Tokyo Motor Show, Suzuki has displayed the interior of the model boasting a minimal dual-tone white and black interior theme. Following current market trends, the EV boasts a large, single-pane screen on the dashboard which houses the infotainment system and fully digital instrument console. All of this can be seen from above with a large panoramic sunroof.

Considering Suzuki competes in multiple global markets, the eVX may not be on the cards initially for South Africa but should it be?
