At 5.9 lakhs (ex-showroom) the LXi sits at the bottom of the Swift range, but it still offers phenomenal value
The new Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the best-selling hatchbacks for the Indian carmaker in the market and has received a commendable response ever since its launch in the market. While the Swift is one of the most feature-loaded cars in the market, lower variants miss out on a few of the features we get to see in the high spec models.
YouTuber Arun Pawar recently got the chance to check out the base variant of the Maruti Swift
However, it is the base-spec Swift LXI that is being offered at an extremely affordable price tag and seems to be a sensible choice for buyers looking for a practical and comfortable car. Maruti Suzuki Swift is offered in 9 different variants and here is a detailed walkaround of the base “LXI” variant.
The Swift LXI sits as the lowermost offering in Swift’s variant lineup and is also one of the best-selling variants for Maruti in India.
With the launch of the new Swift, Maruti offered a new grille on the Swift but the grille on the base variant is different when compared to that of the top-spec version. This variant of the Swift offers halogen lamps on the front, whereas the taillights at the rear are all LED.
The tailgate doesn’t have a defogger or a wiper. You do get LED Tail lights though
Unlike high spec variants, there are no chrome elements on the sides and the ORVMs too are not equipped with turn indicators. Along with this, fog lamps and projector headlamps are a major miss on the Swift LXI. On the plus side, the body-coloured bumpers do help in elevating the visual appeal of the Swift base variant.
No, you won’t get steering mounted buttons and an infotainment system
Inside the cabin, the Swift LXI manages to offer commendable comfort levels. Needless to say, no features are being offered with the Maruti Swift LXi and it remains a stripped-out version. However, on the safety front, the Swift LXi is offered along with dual-front airbags, ISOFIX mounts, ABS, EBD, etc.
The Swift is offered with a 1.2-L dualJet K12B engine
Under the hood, the Swift LXI is powered by a 1.2-litre DualJet VVT petrol engine that boasts a peak power and torque output of 88bhp and 113 Nm respectively. In the base variant, this engine is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Swift LXI is currently priced at INR 5.9 Lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market while the range-topping variant is priced at INR 8.77 lakh (ex-showroom).
