Suzuki has unveiled a preview of its upcoming 2024 Swift concept ahead of its official debut. This latest iteration of the Swift is set to replace the current third-generation model that was introduced in 2017.

While it’s officially labelled as a concept car, it appears to be quite close to the production version. The new Swift concept showcases a refreshed design language, featuring more curves, a distinctive fish-mouth honeycomb grille, updated LED lighting units, and a two-tone livery. Notably, the rear door handles have been relocated to the conventional position, and there’s now a fixed glass in the rear doors. A prominent character line runs from the front to the rear of the vehicle, giving it a fresh look. Additionally, there’s a “Hybrid” badge on the front fender and cameras mounted at the bottom of the side mirrors.

Under the metal, Suzuki remains tight-lipped about the engine details, but it’s expected to feature a “high-efficiency” engine, which could possibly be an enhanced version of the current mild-hybrid 1,2-litre petrol engine used in the current model. Rumours suggest that the international version of the Swift might offer various powertrain options, including a hybrid and a turbo petrol engine. In India, the new Swift is likely to be powered by the same 1,2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or an automatic transmission.

In Japan, a full hybrid variant of the 1,2-litre engine will be available, while the Swift Sport will come with a 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbo engine that features mild-hybrid assistance. It’s worth noting that this mild-hybrid setup slightly reduced the power output in Europe compared to the initial release three years ago.
Suzuki emphasizes that the new Swift has been developed with a focus on bringing enjoyment to the daily lives of its owners. Like its predecessor, the model will come equipped with a range of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The 2024 Suzuki Swift concept represents an exciting step forward in the evolution of this popular city car.
