Suzuki Australia is tugging at the nostalgia strings with one of its most-liked models, the Jimny, by releasing a limited edition version inspired by the diminutive off-roader’s history.
Called the Suzuki Jimny Heritage Edition, the limited-edition model will start from $33,490 before on-road costs and will include a few features that pump up the retro style.
Available in four historic colours – Jungle Green, Bluish Black, Medium Grey and White – the Jimny also features decals around the sides and back of its body, as well as muflaps at the front and rear, a specific cargo tray, and a limited-numbered build plate and badge.
The Suzuki Jimny Heritage Edition is available in manual only, and has no drivetrain changes which means it runs the standard factory 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine making 75kW/130Nm.
Suzuki says the limited-run model – of which only 300 will be sold in Australia – “celebrates Jimny’s vibrant 4×4 history from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s”. The Jimny is now 53 years old, first being produced in 1970.
Suzuki Australia general manager Michael Pachota said he expects the limited edition to be immensely popular following the high demand even the standard model receives.
“These vehicles will sell out quickly. With swift delivery to follow, I encourage all serious buyers to jump in fast”, he said.
The Suzuki Jimny Heritage Edition is available in manual only, and has no drivetrain changes.Buyers are encouraged to register interest at the Suzuki Australia website.
Suzuki Australia has always had a challenge keeping up with the immense demand of the current generation Jimny since its launch in 2019, and the automatic variants are currently unavailable to order.
The brand will make announcements as each colour sells out, and added that “delivery will be based on the current queue process as are all Jimny sales in Australia with the first arrival of vehicles being April 2023”.
