Maruti Suzuki yet again dominates the February 2022 passenger car sales chart by selling more than 1.30 lakh cars. Hyundai comes at a distant second. Here is the list of passenger car sales in February 2022.
Maruti Suzuki (1,33,848 units)
Maruti Suzuki yet again leads the Indian passenger cars segment by selling 1,33,948 units in February 2022. Though this number is praiseworthy and more than the combined sales of the next four brands, the YoY sales figure are down by more than 7 per cent.
Hyundai (44,050 units)
Though Hyundai has been a consistent performer and second-largest passenger cars manufacturer in India, the sales numbers of the South Korean automobile giant has come down by 14.63 per cent in terms of YoY sales as it managed to sell 44,050 units in February 2022.
Tata Motors (39,981 units)
Tata Motors has been steadily climbing the sales chart in India and the Indian automotive brand has now sold 39,981 units in February 2022. This contributes to a YoY sales growth of almost 47 per cent.
Mahindra (27,663 units)
The Indian SUV manufacturer has received an overwhelming response for the recently launched Mahindra Thar and Mahindra XUV700, and the response has significantly affected the sales chart as Mahindra witnessed an almost 80 per cent YoY sales growth by selling 27,663 units in February 2022.
Kia (18,121 units)
Kia is credited as one of the fastest-growing automobile companies in India. However, the YoY sales growth stands at just 8.50 per cent as the South Korean automobile manufacturer managed to sell just 18,121 units in February 2022.
Toyota (8,745 units)
Toyota has been witnessing a bit of a downward slope in terms of sales for quite some time now as the Japanese automobile giant managed to sell only 8,745 units in February 2022, resulting in a YoY sales decline of more than 37 per cent.
Honda (7,187 units)
Like Toyota, Honda has also been witnessing a slight drop in sales and the product lineup does not seem that strong either. As a result, Honda managed to sell just 7,187 units in February 2022, which is more than 2,000 units less than what it managed during last, resulting in a YoY sales drop of almost 23 per cent.
Renault (6,568 units)
Though the launch of new models such as Renault Kiger and Renault Triber has positively impacted the sales of Renault in India, the French car manufacturer seems to lost its traction once again as it managed to sell just 6,568 units in February 2022, resulting in a YoY sales drop of more than 40 per cent.
MG Motor(4,528 units)
MG Motor has witnessed a YoY growth of almost 5 per cent this February 2022 by managing to sell 4,528 cars. However, these numbers are way less for a brand with products in in-demand segments.
Skoda (4,503 units)
The launch of Skoda Kushaq has breathed a new life into the Czech car manufacturer and the YoY sales are up by almost 423 per cent as Skoda managed to sell 4,503 cars in February 2022. Compared to last year during the same time, the Czech car manufacturer could not even manage to sell 1,000 units.
Volkswagen (4,028 units)
Thanks to the launch of the new Taigun SUV, the sales of the German automaker stands at 4,028 units in February 2022, resulting in YoY sales growth of 84 per cent.
Nissan (2,456 units)
The Japanese automaker has witnessed a 42 per cent drop in YoY sales as it managed to sell just 2,456 units in February 2022. This drop in sales could be credited to a weaker product lineup.
Jeep (1,020 units)
Jeep sales are also down by almost 18 per cent as the company managed to sell just 1,020 units in February 2022, compared to 1,103 units sold in February 2021. However, sales could improve for Jeep in the coming months as the brand is gearing up for the launch of Jeep Meridian in India.
Citroen (59 units)
Unfortunately, the French car manufacturer could just manage 59 units in February 2022 despite having a well-rounded product in the form of Citroen C5 Aircross SUV.
Thoughts About Passenger Car Sales In February 2022
Passenger car sales in February 2022 has gone down for most car manufacturers in terms of YoY sales despite the reduced pandemic related restraints.
However, automobile sales will improve in the coming months as manufacturers introduce new models to their product lineup.
