The new Suzuki XL6 has officially landed in South African showrooms from a starting price of R326,900.
The MPV is a more premium offering than Suzuki’s other vehicle that falls into the same class, namely the Ertiga, sporting an SUV-like appearance, a higher level of standard features, and a maximum of six seats instead of seven.
Four specifications of the new XL6 are available spanning two equipment grades, two gearboxes, and one engine option.
Specifications
In the base GL trim, the XL6 comes with all-round LED lights, automatic climate control with rear-seat vents, second-row captain’s chairs, cruise control, keyless entry and start, a reverse camera, a multifunction steering wheel, a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it’s completed with a set of 15-inch alloy wheels.
Standard safety offerings on the MPV encompass dual airbags, ABS with electronic brake-force distribution, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, and if the automatic gearbox is fitted, also hill-hold control.
The top-spec GLX further provides ventilated cupholders for the front passengers, leather upholstery for the seats and steering wheel, and automatic headlight activation, and it can be had in a range of dual-tone paints.
Engine
Driving the XL6 is the popular 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol motor found in a host of other Suzuki models including the Ertiga, putting out 77kW and 138Nm.
Buyers have a choice between a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic, both achieving a combined fuel usage of 6.0l/100km.
Unfortunately, the “Smart Hybrid” 1.5-litre mill that is offered in the Indian market, as well as on the Grand Vitara locally, is currently not part of the XL6 roster.
