Suzuki South Africa has released the new Dzire.
This new generation of the compact sedan enjoys updated interior and safety features, and exterior design elements.
The Dzire comes in two new specifications – GA and GL – with the most noticeable update being the new grille and front bumper finished in silver on the GA and chrome on the GL.
The higher-level GL specification is treated to new 15-inch alloy wheels, too, whereas the GA retains the wheel covers from the previous generation.
“It is worth noting that the GL specification level adds a true premium feel to the Suzuki Dzire, with chrome detailing, body-coloured door handles, and integrated mud flaps as standard,” said Suzuki.
Interior
The interior of the new Dzire gets an update in the form of a new-look upholstery, with a new material introduced by Suzuki that gives the interior a premium feeling while being hard-wearing and durable.
Both models also receive:
- Power steering
- Air conditioning
- Electric windows
- Remote central locking
- Immobiliser and alarm system
The GL specification then adds front fog lamps, an audio system with auxiliary input, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, and a tachometer.
Safety
Safety is a large focus for Suzuki in the new Dzire and they decided not to differentiate between the models.
An electronic stability system has been added to the range and is now a standard feature along with two airbags, ABS, and emergency brake assistance.
Thanks to the HEARTECT platform on which the car is built, the Dzire now features integrated side impact protection bars, a high-level stop lamp, and ISOFIX child seat mountings on the rear bench.
Built from high-strength steel, the HEARTECT platform ensures a high level safety with added benefits such as increased performance and fuel consumption.
Engine
The full range of the Dzire will retain the Suzuki K12M engine featured on other popular Suzuki models – such as the Swift and Ignis.
This standard petrol engine has an output of 61kW and 113Nm of torque and is mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or five-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).
Pricing
At present, only the GL variant with a five-speed manual transmission is on offer.
However, a manual GA specification as well as an AMT GL specification will be joining the line-up soon.
