There has been much focus on the new Baleno hatchback lately since it is expected to be launched here on 23 February. However, that does not take away from the fact that Maruti Suzuki has plenty of other launches planned for 2022, including the 2022 Maruti Suzuki WagonR facelift. Yep, a facelift model of the Maruti WagonR is also in the works; in fact, this upcoming car in India too is expected to be launched this month though the automaker is yet to confirm when it will announce the new Maruti Suzuki WagonR facelift’s price in India. Anyway, the new hatchback was spied during a TVC shoot, so we figure now is a good time to share some 2022 WagonR pictures and see what we know about this upcoming car in India.
The new Maruti Suzuki WagonR will take over from the current model which was launched here in 2019. The car’s facelifted model largely retains the current WagonR’s design and styling. This means this upcoming Maruti Suzuki WagonR will get only subtle updates, if at all. With that being said, we do expect the automaker to offer at least a handful of new colour options.
We believe the new Maruti WagonR facelift’s interior too will not get a whole lot of changes; perhaps new upholstery and some updated features, including an engine idle start stop system and an updated SmartPlay infotainment system. Other than that, the new Maruti Suzuki WagonR will likely retain the current model’s features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R will not get any mechanical changes, i.e. this upcoming car in India in 2022 will be offered with a choice between two petrol options: a 1.0-litre engine and a 1.2-litre engine. The smaller unit develops 68 bhp and 90 Nm, whereas the 1.2-litre engine puts out 83 bhp. Transmission options with both engine options will include a five-speed manual gearbox and a five-speed AMT.
