Maruti Suzuki has started launching teasers of the Baleno Facelift. Till now, they had released two teasers of the features that would be coming on the 2022 Baleno. Today, they have released the third teaser that shows the 360-degree parking camera of the Baleno Facelift.
The 360-degree camera would help in parking the premium hatchback much more easily. There will be cameras mounted in the front, rear and below the outside rearview cameras. The system would be able to stitch an upside-down view of the car through the cameras. This will be the first in segment feature.
Another segment-first feature that Baleno will come with the Baleno is a heads-up display or HUD. The display would show you a tachometer, speedometer, fuel efficiency, time and gear indicator. The HUD comes in handy as the driver does not need to take his eyes off the road to check information in the instrument cluster.
Then there is the new SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system that has been co-developed with Toyota. It measures 9-inches in size whereas the current SmartPlay infotainment system measures 7-inches in size. It would come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. However, as of now, we do not know whether it will be wireless or not. The home screen would be divided into different segments that would show you different information and there are also shortcut touch-sensitive buttons too.
Other things that we can see in the teaser is the headlamps and tail lamps. Both of them have been redesigned for 2022. The headlamps still get a projector set up and the lighting used for the headlamp and tail lamps are still LEDs which is a good thing. The design now has straight lines instead of curves. This gives a more sporty appeal to the premium hatchback.
The cabin has also been redesigned. It now comes with a new dashboard design, tweaked instrument cluster, revised multi-information display. automatic climate control and much more. The steering wheel has been taken from the Swift, it is a flat-bottom unit. Maruti Suzuki decided to do this because the Swift’s steering looks more sporty than the regular circular steering found on the current Baleno.
Engine and gearbox
There will only be one engine on offer. It will be a K12 N petrol engine. K12 N is a four-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine that produces 90 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. It will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The CVT automatic transmission is replaced with a 5-speed AMT. The CVT is relatively smoother than the AMT but Maruti Suzuki made this change so that they are able to price the automatic variants of the Baleno competitively when compared to the rivals. Indian market is slowly transitioning towards automatic transmissions because of the convenience that they offer in traffic.
Variants
Maruti Suzuki will be offering the 2022 Baleno in six variants. There is Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Zeta (O), Alpha (O) and Alpha. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be standard on all the variants. The 5-speed AMT would be offered on the Delta, Zeta, Zeta (O), Alpha (O) and Alpha.
