Maruti Suzuki’s latest offering in the Indian market is the new-gen Baleno. They have completely changed the exterior and interior of the premium hatchback. They have also added some new features to the Baleno. Now, the manufacturer has launched a new TVC.
The video starts by showing the Suzuki Connect connected car technology. So, you can give commands to the car and check the status through the smartwatch or a smartphone.
It also shows us the 360-degree parking camera and the heads-up display. Both of which are segment-first features. The heads-up display shows various information directly in the line of sight of the driver so he does not have to take his eyes off the road. The HUD shows tachometer, speedometer, fuel economy, time, gear shifter and even climate control. The 360-degree parking camera can show a top-down view that will make it easier to park the premium hatchback in tight parking spaces.
Prices and variants
The prices start from Rs. 6.35 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 9.49 lakhs ex-showroom. So, it has been priced competitively in the market. Maruti Suzuki Baleno is offered in four variants. There is Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.
Engine and gearbox
There is only one petrol engine on offer with the Baleno. It is the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated unit that produces 90 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. You can get it with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. There could be a CNG drivetrain in the works. The CNG version will get the same engine but the power and torque output will be decreased while running on CNG. It would come with the S-CNG features that Maruti Suzuki offers on their other vehicles.
Rivals
Maruti Suzuki Baleno competes against Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and the upcoming Citroen C3.
Safety equipment
As standard, the Baleno comes with dual airbags, an Anti-lock braking system with Electronic Brake Distribution, Brake Assist, seatbelt pretenstioners, ISOFIX child seat mounts, seatbelt reminder and rear parking sensors.
On the AMT variants and the top-spec Alpha variant, Baleno comes with Hill Hold Assist and Electronic Stability Program. There are is also a rear parking camera and side and curtain airbags.
Variants
Maruti Suzuki is offering the Baleno in four variants. There is Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The AMT gearbox is offered only with the Delta, Zeta and Alpha variants. If you get the AMT gearbox then you also get the Electronic Stability Program and Hill Hold Control.
Features
The manufacturer has added more features to the Baleno so that it can compete with its modern rivals. The highlight of the Baleno is the heads-up display and the 360-degree parking camera. Both of which are first-in-segment.
It also comes with cruise control, coloured multi-information display, touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push button to start/stop the engine, keyless entry, USB ports for charging mobile devices, rear AC vents, auto-dimming IRVM and much more.
