Maruti Suzuki needs no introduction in India and the company is by far the largest passenger car manufacturer in the country by quite some margin. In May 2022, the Indo-Japanese automaker’s YoY production figures are up by more than three times at 1,64,859 cars.
In comparison, Maruti Suzuki manufactured just 40,628 cars in May 2021, which is more than 1.24 lakh units less than what the company managed to produce in May 2022.
Though the company has manufactured more cars in the past, it is a remarkable feat considering the ongoing chip shortage.
Apart from that, Maruti Suzuki recently launched the updated iteration of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno hatchback in India with a starting price tag of Rs 6.35 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Speaking about the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the updated premium hatchback features numerous changes on both inside and out.
In terms of design, the new 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno comes with a pair of sharper-looking LED projector headlights, a redesigned front grille, a more aggressive-looking front bumper, a pair of new split LED tail lamps, and much more.
Moreover, the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Baleno comes with features such as connected car tech, a 360-degree surround-view camera system, a 9.0-inch HD touchscreen infotainment unit, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a heads-up display, auto climate control system, power ORVMs, rear AC vents, Geo-Fencing, Time Fencing and much more.
Apart from these changes, the new 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been fitted with a redesigned dashboard that houses the larger infotainment unit with horizontal AC vents, a new sportier-looking flat-bottom steering wheel, and a redesigned instrument console.
The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 89bhp of peak power and 113Nm of peak torque. Moreover, this engine can be specified with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT unit.
Also, the new 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno comes with a boot space of 318 litres, which is decent for a premium hatchback in India.
Recently, Maruti Suzuki released a new teaser image via Nexa’s social media handles. This image showed a picture of a place that resembles a desert with tyre tread marks on the sand, and the caption reading “This just in! A wild adventurous ride has been spotted making its way through different terrains! The one question is, what car is this?”
We suspect the upcoming vehicle featured in the teaser is most likely to be an off-road friendly vehicle positioned as a premium offering from Maruti Suzuki.
This could mean, that Maruti Suzuki might introduce the Suzuki Jimny SUV in the country and this makes sense as many enthusiasts across the country have been waiting for the Suzuki Jimny in India.
Also, Maruti Suzuki developing the 5-door version of the Suzuki Jimny, there is a high chance the Indo-Japanese brand may introduce the 3-door version of the Jimny in the country as the vehicle is already being manufactured in India.
