Maruti Suzuki recently commenced the production of the Jimny off-road SUV in India. Now, the Indo-Japanese automaker has revealed the fuel efficiency figures of the upcoming off-road SUV in the country.
According to Maruti Suzuki, the manual variant of the Jimny SUV returns a fuel efficiency of 16.94km/l, whereas the automatic variant is slightly less fuel efficient with a fuel efficiency of 16.39km/l.
This means the manual variant of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny with its 40-litre fuel tank can cover a distance of 678 kilometres on a full tank of fuel. On the other hand, the automatic variant of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny can cover a distance of 656 kilometres.
In comparison, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza SUV with a similar powertrain returns a fuel efficiency of 20.15km/l (19.89km/l for the ZXI and ZXI+ trim levels) for the manual variant and 19.80km/l for the automatic variant.
At present, Maruti Suzuki has already bagged more than 30,000 bookings for the Jimny SUV in India. We expect these numbers to have gone even further if Maruti Suzuki had not increased the booking amount to Rs 25,000.
Speaking about the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, the off-road SUV will be available in just two trim levels – Zeta and Alpha. Furthermore, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV will be available in both automatic and manual variants.
In terms of powertrain, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 103bhp of peak power and 134.2Nm of peak torque.
Gearbox options include a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed automatic transmission. It is also worth mentioning that both transmission options will come equipped with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system which consists of a low-range gearbox for better off-roadability.
Coming to the features, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV will come with features such as auto headlamps, a large 9.0-inch infotainment unit, Arkayms audio system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, cruise control, climate control, keyless entry, alloy wheels, headlamp washers, and more.
In terms of pricing, we expect Maruti Suzuki to price the base variant of the Jimny SUV under the Rs 10 lakh mark. This aggressive pricing will not only help the company attract off-road enthusiasts and lifestyle buyers but it will also attract potential sub-4m SUV customers as well.
Thoughts About The Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV
With the launch of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny in India, the Indo-Japnese automaker will cater to the needs of both off-road enthusiasts and lifestyle buyers in the country. This will help the automaker rope in a new set of customers and improve market share.
